Lectionary

The Lectionary is a method by which, over a period of three years, much of the Bible is read aloud in Church. St Johns Papatoetoe uses the Common Lectionary Revised (1992) produced by the ecumenical liturgical body the Consultation on Common Texts (CCT).

Daily readings (click here) expand the range of biblical reading in worship and personal devotion by providing daily citations for the full three-year cycle of the Revised Common Lectionary. These readings complement the Sunday and festival readings:

  • Thursday through Saturday readings help prepare the reader for the Sunday ahead
  • Monday through Wednesday readings help the reader reflect on and digest what they heard in worship.

Overview of the Sunday Readings are provided weekly at Connections Corner.

The readings are from Revised Common Lectionary hosted by Vanderbilt University.
