2022 | Term 1 | Week 1 | February 14-18
This week, kids learned in Luke 4:1-13 that Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness. They learned that’s one reason Jesus understands what it’s like for them when they face temptations at school, home, and even at home. Jesus faced really hard tThis week, kids learned in Luke 6:20-22 that true happiness is found in Jesus alone. Jesus knew that people often look for happiness in the wrong places, like money, popularity, or things of this world. He told His disciples that we might be happier if we were poor, hungry, crying, and disliked by others. (Luke 6:20-22) Kids learned that Jesus isn’t saying we have to be poor and sad and hungry all the time, but those things can happen. When they do, we can count on Jesus instead of the things of this world. That’s when we are truly happy and blessed. Bible Memory Verse: “Looking at His disciples, He said: ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.’ “ Luke 6:20-22
